September County Line

It's September already, where has the summer gone. In August we had several members turn out for the chapter ride at Zaleski. Dick Anderson of the Ohio Gaited Club grilled us some very delicious steaks along with a potluck dinner Saturday night. Our chapter ride at Salt Fork several members also turned out. Bill Hoover our club president furnished some very good hamburgers along with potluck dinner Saturday night.

At our August club meeting we were entertained by our own club member

Joan Riffle with a selection of songs. She was accompanied on the piano by a friend. It was reported August 14 that Bob Piggott is recovering from a Heart Attack and is currently at Charleston Area Medical Center. It is not known at this time if bi-pass surgery will be necessary.

Upcoming rides are:

August 23-25 East Fork - Chapter Ride

Sept 6-8 State Ride - Tanglewood Acres

Sept 21 Stone Church - Day Ride 10:30 - Wayne National Forest permits will be required.

E. O. D. (Equine Obsessive Disorder)

Do you suffer from this disease?  If you relate to any of the following You, too, may be afflicted:

The first three numbers on your speed dial are reserved for the vet, farrier, and the local tack shop.

Your idea of a dream car is a one-ton crew cab dually.

The picture of your horse on your desk at work is bigger than the picture of your husband.

Your horse is on the best vitamin supplement available; yours comes from the generic section at Walmart.

Your Christmas list reads like an inventory list at your favorite tack shop.

Your husband picks the hay out of your hair before going out for an evening.

Your idea of a perfect companion for your dog is a mini.

You have so many horses you don't have time to ride.

You don't go on vacation unless it’s somewhere your horse can go.

Your barn is cleaner than your house.

You almost have a breakdown if you have to go visit relatives that don't have horses.

You know you have too many horses, but buy another one anyway.

Your favorite sports teams are the Denver Broncos, the Indianapolis Colts, and the Philadelphia Phillies(fillies!!)

Instead of flowers, you husband brings you new bridle when he wants to get lucky.

You bought your kid her first horse before she could walk.

You had to buy a bigger horse trailer because your horse didn't like the little one, then had to buy a bigger truck to pull the bigger trailer, then have to build a building to store the new rig in.

!!!!!!!!!!WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!

EOD is genetic! Does your daughter suffer?

Was her first word "Horsey"?

Would she rather clean a stall than her room?

She can't get out of bed at 7:00 on weekdays to go to school, but is up at 5 A.M. with no problem on Saturday to make it to the horse show on time?

Are all her math questions answered in hands?

Whenever the teacher mentions horses do all the kids look at her?

If there is a report to do on animals, does the teacher automatically put her down for horses?

Does she buy her prom dress at Goodwill so she has enough money left over for a new saddle pad?

Has a hoof pick ever fallen out of her jeans pocket in the washing machine?

Does she go to a rodeo to actually watch the horses and not the Wranglers?

Does she go down to the barn in the morning to feed, before SHE eats?

If all the above are perfectly normal, you are definitely Equine Obsessed!
