February Line

It's hard to believe it's February already! It won't be long until we are back in the saddle, and hitting the trails. In fact, Nancy and Zach Huffman, started the new year on their mules.

As of our January meeting, we have 35 members.  We are in the process of having a membership drive, with newspaper and bulletin board articles.  Connie is making up flyers to circulate around tack shops and feed stores to promote new members.  Thanks to Terren Bichard we have a club web page.  It is http://wccohc0/tripod.com if anyone is interested in taking a look.  It is still in the beginning stages but it looks like a great site so far.  If any club members have any pictures or other information for the website, contact Terren Bichard. (tbichard@yankeeburgstables.com) There will be a square dance Feb. 10, at the National Guard Armory in Zanesville, hosted by area OHC Chapters, to raise money for the trailathon.  Everyone is welcome. The trailathon this year is going to be June 2 at Hocking Hills/Palmerosa.  It will be a combination state ride and trailathon.  Camping will be at both Hocking Hills State camp and Palmerosa's Campground, with meals and activities at Palmerosa Campground.

On Dec. 19, Mike and Martha McCoy became the proud parents of a baby girl.  Holly Elizabeth weighed 7lb. 9oz.

March meeting will be our annual awards banquet and potluck.

I think we can all relate to these:

Barn sour- An affliction common to horse people in northern climates during the winter months. Trudging through deep show, pushing wheelbarrows through snow, and beating out frozen water buckets, tend to bring on this condition rapidly.

Flies- The excuse of choice a horse uses so he can kick you, buck you off, or knock you over; he cannot be punished.

Founder- 1) The discovery of your loose mare, some miles from your farm; usually in a flower bed or cornfield. Used like...."Hey, honey, I found'er." 2) Founder: A condition that happens to most people after Thanksgiving dinner.
